What is PromptTools.dev?
PromptTools.dev is a free platform offering AI-powered tools for prompt engineering, text processing, and developer utilities. We help you write better prompts, optimize AI interactions, and process text efficiently.
Is PromptTools.dev really free?
Yes! All core tools are free to use with daily usage limits. Client-side tools (JSON formatter, Base64 encoder, etc.) have no limits. AI-powered tools have daily limits to keep the service sustainable for everyone.
Do I need to create an account?
No. All tools work without signup or registration. Just visit the tool page and start using it immediately.
How do you make money if it's free?
The platform is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense). We may introduce a premium plan in the future with unlimited access and additional features.
Privacy & Security
Is my data stored or sent to a server?
Client-side tools (JSON formatter, Base64, etc.) process everything in your browser — your data never leaves your computer. AI-powered tools send prompts to OpenRouter for processing but we do not store them.
Can I use these tools offline?
Client-side tools work offline after the page loads. AI-powered tools require an internet connection to access AI models.
Do you use my prompts to train AI models?
No. We do not store, log, or use your prompts for any purpose. OpenRouter processes your prompts but does not use them for training either.
Is it safe to paste sensitive information?
For client-side tools, yes — your data never leaves your browser. For AI-powered tools, we recommend NOT entering personally identifiable information (PII), passwords, or confidential data.
Usage Limits
What are the daily usage limits?
AI-powered tools have daily limits per IP address: Prompt Tester (10), Prompt Optimizer (2), Prompt Analyzer (5), AI Humanizer (2), Email Reply (5), Meeting Notes (1), AI Resume Builder (2), System Prompt (2), Image to Prompt (2). Client-side tools have no limits.
When do usage limits reset?
Usage limits reset daily at midnight UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
Can I get more usage?
Currently, limits are fixed for all users. We plan to introduce a premium plan with unlimited access in the future.
What happens if I hit the limit?
You'll see a "Daily limit reached" message. You can continue using client-side tools or wait until midnight UTC for limits to reset.
AI Tools
Which AI models do you use?
We use DeepSeek V3 for most tools (cost-optimized, excellent quality) and Gemini Flash for image analysis. All models are accessed via OpenRouter.
Why do AI tools sometimes give different results?
AI models are probabilistic — they generate responses based on patterns, not fixed rules. Results may vary slightly between requests, which is normal behavior.
Can I choose which AI model to use?
Currently, we select the best model for each tool. Model selection may be added as a premium feature in the future.
How accurate are AI-generated results?
AI tools are highly capable but not perfect. Always review and verify AI outputs before using them, especially for important tasks.
Specific Tools
How does the AI Resume Builder work?
Upload your PDF resume and paste a job description. Our AI analyzes both, suggests improvements with relevant keywords, and generates an ATS-optimized PDF. You can accept or reject each suggestion.
What is ATS and why does it matter?
ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is software companies use to filter resumes before humans see them. Our AI Resume Builder optimizes your resume with keywords and formatting that ATS systems recognize.
Can the Prompt Tester really test on multiple AI models?
Yes! It sends your prompt to 6 different AI models simultaneously and shows all responses side-by-side for comparison.
What does the AI Humanizer actually do?
It rewrites AI-generated text to sound more natural and human-written by increasing burstiness (sentence length variation) and perplexity (word unpredictability) — the two metrics AI detectors use.
Technical
Which browsers are supported?
All modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. We recommend using the latest version for best performance.
Do tools work on mobile?
Yes! All tools are fully responsive and work on mobile devices, though some are easier to use on larger screens.
Why is a tool not working?
Common issues: browser cache (try hard refresh), ad blocker (may block some features), or daily limit reached. If problems persist, contact us.
Can I use these tools in my own projects?
Client-side tools can be used freely. For AI-powered tools, you may use the outputs but cannot resell or redistribute the service itself.
